Oil and Gas UK Medicals
Oil and Gas UK Medicals (OEUK/OGUK) are undertaken by individuals who wish to work offshore on an oil rig or offshore wind farm, and it is a requirement to hold an in-date medical to work in that industry. It was originally designed for working in the North Sea, but it is often used worldwide as a measure of physical fitness for the offshore sector. Offshore workers are required to hold a valid in-date certificate before departing. The certificate is usually valid for up to two years, however, this does depend on medical history and operators may request a medical more frequently.

About the medical
If you only require the medical, this will last 30-45 minutes. If a Chester step test is also needed, be prepared for the assessment to last 45 minutes to an hour. We do also offer Chester step tests as an individual assessment lasting 15 minutes.
Please bring photographic ID (passport or driving license) and any medication including inhalers, creams, tablets, drops and injections to your assessment. Please also bring any glasses you use and be prepared to take out your contact lenses. The assessment will include:
- A medical, occupational and social history
- Height, weight, BMI and waist circumference
- Blood pressure test
- An eye test
- Urine test
- Hearing test
- Clinical examination
Further information/investigations may be required depending on medical history. If there is any history of stroke, heart attack, an issue with heart rhythm, blood clots, kidney stones, epilepsy, diabetes or allergies, please speak to the doctor before the medical to prevent any unnecessary delays.
