Offshore and seafarer medicals take 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on what it is. The chester step test and fit to train medical take 15 minutes. The D4 driver medical takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
Offshore and seafarer medicals last up to 2 years if fit and well, but it depends on a person’s medical history. The duration of a driver medical is governed by the DVLA based on age and medical history.
ID required – passport or driving licence or the discharge book for seafarers.
Eye test – bring any glasses, if you have contact lenses then please be prepared to remove them.
Your prescription for your glasses – this can be obtained by your optician. Driving glasses are only required for the D4 driver medical. You do not need to bring reading glasses.
Any medication you are using, including inhalers, drops, creams, injections as well as tablets, or a list of them.
A urine sample is required depending on the medical.
Clothes that you can do a fitness test if you are having a chester step test.

If there is any history of stroke, heart attack, an issue with heart rhythm, blood clots, kidney stones, epilepsy, diabetes or allergies please speak to the doctor before the medical so you can gather the correct information for the medical to ensure there are no delays on receiving your certificate, if passed.
For driver medicals the above does not apply. You are requested to bring a list of any medications or hospital letters if you are under care of a consultant.
